Preparations for the 2026 Imbalu cultural launch intensified on Thursday as His Highness the Umukuka, Sir Mike Mudoma, met with regional security leaders to map out a comprehensive plan ahead of the August 1 event at Mutoto Cultural Grounds.
The high-level meeting brought together security commanders from Mbale City and the wider Elgon region, who were briefed on protocols and logistical arrangements for the historic ceremony.
The gathering was led by Mbale Resident City Commissioner George Wopuwa and included Regional Police Commander Samuel Asimwe and Criminal Investigations Department head Johnson Agaba, among other senior officials.
Authorities said the meeting resolved key aspects of the security architecture, citing the anticipated influx of high-profile guests from across Africa and beyond.
Deputy RCCs, police division heads, and intelligence officers also attended, underscoring the scale of coordination required.
Mudoma’s delegation featured senior cultural and government figures, including Deputy Minister for Security Hon. Mungoma, Interreligious Affairs Minister Phillip Kyaro, and legal advisor Isaac Masanga.
Officials confirmed that a detailed roadmap for the August ceremony has been adopted, with early deployment plans expected to follow.
The Umukuka also shared a list of confirmed dignitaries to aid in advance planning.
Among those expected to attend are Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni, Kenya’s President Dr. William Ruto, and National Assembly Speaker Dr. Moses Wetangula.
Several African monarchs from countries including South Africa, Eswatini, Nigeria, Togo, and Cameroon are also expected, alongside a delegation from Indonesia and multiple Ugandan cultural leaders.
Imbalu, a revered circumcision ritual among the Bamasaaba people, draws thousands of participants and spectators, making security planning a central priority for organizers.
