National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula is emerging as a key force behind a wave of development projects steadily transforming Western Kenya, leveraging both policy influence and constituency funding to drive change.

From classrooms to highways, Wetang’ula’s imprint is visible across Bungoma and the wider region.

In Kanduyi, he launched a 12-classroom tuition block at St. Veronica Ranje R.C. Comprehensive School funded through the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF), while Sierra Girls Senior School benefited from a Sh22 million administration complex.

At Nambale Urban Primary, a modern facility complete with an ICT lab and library now serves learners.

Beyond NG-CDF, Wetang’ula has brokered partnerships with private foundations.

At Cardinal Otunga Girls High School, he commissioned a 100-bed dormitory funded by the Kenya Pipeline Company Foundation, while in Tongaren, leaders mobilized Sh4.5 million for land expansion at Naitiri S.A. Primary School alongside President William Ruto.

Infrastructure is another pillar.

Wetang’ula has pushed for the upgrade of the Lwakhakha-Kanduyi road and confirmed progress on key links including Misikhu-Brigadier.

He also revealed an Sh8.5 billion roads package and plans to elevate Matulo Airstrip to international standards.

At policy level, he has backed the Sugar Bill and lobbied for farmer payments, while championing the upgrade of Lwakhakha border to a one-stop post to boost trade with Uganda.

Calling NG-CDF “the most impactful intervention since independence,” Wetang’ula’s approach blends grassroots funding with national leverage — quietly reshaping the region’s economic and social landscape.
