Chelsea f.c. forward João Pedro expressed his deep disappointment but vowed to remain focused following his exclusion from Brazil’s final World Cup squad.
The forward took to social media to address his fans after national team selectors left him out of the roster traveling to the global tournament.
Pedro had been heavily tipped for a spot following strong performances in the English Premier League.
“I tried to give my best at all times,” Pedro said. “Unfortunately, it wasn’t possible to fulfill this dream of representing my country in a World Cup. But I remain calm and focused, as I always try to be. Joys and frustrations are part of football.“
The striker added that he will be supporting the Seleção from the sidelines as they chase a historic sixth World Cup title.
