Lusaka launches Marobo–Luuya Bridge, urges unity and backs Ruto’s 2027 bid

Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka on Tuesday launched construction of the Marobo–Luuya Bridge in Luuya/Bwake, a project aimed at easing long-standing transport challenges and boosting economic activity in the region.

The bridge is expected to improve connectivity for residents of Kabuchai, Kanduyi and Webuye, who have for years relied on longer, costly alternative routes, especially during heavy rains that disrupt movement.

Speaking at the launch, Lusaka emphasized the need for leaders to work together to accelerate development, urging them to put aside political differences for the benefit of residents.

“Development is a shared responsibility. We must collaborate and remain focused on delivering tangible progress for our people,” he said.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fast-tracking key infrastructure projects, noting that efforts are underway to improve livelihoods across Bungoma County.

Lusaka also used the event to rally support for President William Ruto ahead of the 2027 general election, citing ongoing and completed projects as proof of the national government’s commitment to the region.

“We have witnessed transformative projects under President Ruto’s leadership. It is only prudent that we consolidate these gains by supporting his re-election in 2027,” Lusaka said.

The Marobo–Luuya Bridge is expected to enhance mobility, spur local trade and open up the area to greater economic opportunities once completed.
