NAIROBI, Kenya
The Kenya Meteorological Department has forecast rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms in at least three regions of the country over the next 24 hours.
In its latest advisory, the weatherman said the rains will mainly affect the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin and parts of the Rift Valley, with key urban centers such as Nairobi expected to experience showers.
The forecast indicates that both daytime and nighttime showers are likely, with some areas experiencing moderate to heavy rainfall and localized thunderstorms.
Weather officials warned that the conditions could disrupt transport and daily activities, especially in low-lying and poorly drained areas prone to flooding.
The advisory comes amid the ongoing March-to-May long rains season, during which the country is expected to receive near-average to above-average rainfall across several regions.
Residents have been urged to remain alert for possible flash floods, lightning strikes and reduced visibility, particularly during heavy downpours.
Authorities say they will continue to monitor the situation and issue updates as weather patterns evolve.
