Bungoma County Governor Kenneth Lusaka has urged school principals nationwide to prioritize student safety to ensure a conducive learning environment.

Speaking to reporters at Kibabii Boys High School following a meeting with students and teachers, Lusaka cited a recent dormitory fire at Utumishi Girls Academy.

He urged school administrators to remain vigilant and strengthen safety measures, such as reducing overcrowding in dormitories, to prevent similar tragedies.
“I was a student here, no matter what the situation was,” Lusaka said. “Do not let your past define your future.”

He encouraged the Kibabii Boys students to work hard, calling education a critical pillar for personal growth and national development.

He also emphasized the need for leaders and alumni to support the school, noting that collaboration would help elevate academic standards and overall performance at his alma mater.
Principal Geoffrey Murunga echoed the governor’s remarks, emphasizing that cooperation among leaders, parents, teachers and students is vital to promoting academic excellence and institutional development.
Both leaders highlighted discipline, responsibility and teamwork as essential values to achieve educational success and boost the school’s performance image.
