The blaze broke out around 9 p.m., rapidly engulfing the busy transport hub and bringing operations to a standstill as merchants desperately attempted to salvage their stock from the thick smoke.

While emergency services eventually contained the inferno, local authorities confirmed Monday that the cause of the fire has not yet been established.
To alleviate unrelated economic strain, Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o announced a 100% waiver on accrued interest and penalties for outstanding land rates, effective through June 30.

Police Launch Murder Investigation After 3 Bodies Found in Machakos

Authorities in Kathiani, Machakos County, have opened a homicide investigation following the gruesome discovery of three bodies, including a child’s limb, in Wandathe village.

Kathiani Subcounty Police Commander George Kashmir reported Monday that a local resident’s dogs discovered a leg belonging to a child aged between 6 and 8.

A subsequent search of the area by police and villagers uncovered two more complete bodies.
