Bungoma Senator  amd majority whip in the Senate CBS David Wakoli has labeled Bungoma and Trans Nzoia counties as  “twins in crime” for their shared failure to settle KSh 3.4 billion in pending bills.
Wakoli accused the two counties of intentionally choking local businesses through financial mismanagement.
The Senate has initiated a probe into the administrations, addressing accusations of illegal fund diversion and requesting audits of the KSh 2.4 billion and KSh 1 billion debts, respectively.
According to a petition brought by Senator Allan Chesang to the Senate Standing Committee on Finance and Budgeting,he demanded a comprehensive audit of outstanding arrears and accountability for the officers responsible for these financial delays.
The  Trans Nzoia Senator urged a Senate investigation into rising pending bills in Trans Nzoia county citing a  crippling debt that is hindering local businesses.Â
Financial reports indicate Bungoma holds 2.4 billion shillings in outstanding bills, while Trans Nzoia owes approximately 1 billion shillings to contractors. Read the full story at Parliament of Kenya.
