Sibembe ECDE Nears Completion as Joseph Waswa Foundation Roofs Classrooms

By Alex Sifuna

The construction of Sibembe ECDE Centre has reached its final phase after the roofing exercise was officially supervised by the CBS Moses Wamoto, marking a significant milestone in efforts to improve access to quality early childhood education in the area.

The roofing activity, which involved the installation of iron sheets on the classroom block, was carried out on Thursday afternoon under the leadership of the Joseph Waswa foundation, which has fully funded and implemented the project from the ground up.

According to the foundation, the ECDE centre was initiated to address the long-standing challenges facing young learners who have been studying under poor and unconducive conditions.

Community members said the new facility is expected to provide a safer and more comfortable learning environment for children during their formative years.

Speaking during the exercise, representative of the Joseph Waswa Foundation, Moses Wamoto, said the project reflects their commitment to supporting education and community development through practical initiatives that directly impact local families.

The foundation noted that investing in early childhood education is critical in shaping the future of children and strengthening academic foundations at an early age.

“For a long time, learners in this area have faced difficulties studying in unsuitable conditions. We saw the need to intervene and ensure children have a proper environment where they can learn comfortably and grow academically,” the foundation stated.

Residents who attended the roofing exercise welcomed the project, describing it as a major boost to education within the community.

Parents expressed optimism that the new classrooms would motivate children to attend school regularly and improve learning outcomes.

Some local leaders also praised the initiative, saying community-driven projects play a key role in complementing government efforts in the education sector.

The roofing phase now brings the project closer to completion, with only a few finishing touches remaining before the ECDE centre is officially opened for use.

Once operational, the facility is expected to serve dozens of children from Sibembe and surrounding villages who previously lacked access to modern and child-friendly learning facilities.

Education stakeholders have repeatedly emphasized the importance of investing in ECDE infrastructure, noting that a conducive learning environment contributes significantly to a child’s cognitive and social development.

Cbs Wamoto said it remains committed to rolling out more development projects aimed at improving the welfare of residents through education, empowerment, and community support programs.

The foundation added that collaboration between communities, leaders, and charitable organizations remains essential in addressing social challenges and accelerating grassroots development.
