Namawanga FC have been crowned champions of the second edition of the Joseph Waswa Super Cup after beating Kiyoro FC in a thrilling final to win the top prize of Ksh 500,000.

The final match attracted a large crowd and delivered exciting football from start to finish.

Both teams showed strong determination and good organization, but Namawanga FC proved more clinical in key moments.

Kiyoro FC put up a spirited fight, keeping the game competitive, but fell short against a well-prepared Namawanga side.

In the girls’ category, Matulo Queens FC emerged winners after an impressive run in the tournament.

The team displayed discipline, teamwork, and consistency throughout their matches, earning them the title and a cash prize of Ksh 250,000.

Their victory highlighted the growing strength of women’s football at the grassroots level.

Speaking after the final, tournament sponsor Joseph Waswa said the competition was aimed at supporting young talent.

“This tournament was established to identify and nurture raw talent among our youth. We want to give young players a platform for growth, exposure, and opportunity to pursue their dreams,” he said.

He added that investing in grassroots football is key to developing the next generation of players.

Waswa noted that many young people have talent but lack the right platforms to showcase their abilities.

Organizers said the Joseph Waswa Super Cup continues to grow and attract more teams each year.

They noted that the tournament is not only about winning but also about giving players a chance to learn, compete, and gain exposure.

Football stakeholders praised the event for promoting discipline, teamwork, and unity among young people.

They said such tournaments help keep youth engaged in positive activities while building their skills.

The competition also provided a platform for scouts and coaches to identify promising players who can advance to higher levels of the game.

Several players stood out during the tournament and are expected to attract interest from bigger clubs.

As the tournament comes to an end, attention now turns to the future of the players who took part.

Many hope to build on the experience gained and continue improving their game.

The Joseph Waswa Super Cup is quickly becoming an important grassroots competition, offering young players a chance to grow and pursue careers in football.
