According to the agency, the rains will start off lightly in the early part of the week and get heavier starting on Thursday. Some locations may get afternoon and night showers with thunderstorms.
During the March 17-23 period, the weatherman forecasts that rainfall is expected over the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, the South-eastern Lowlands, and the Coast region of Kenya. The rain intensity in these areas will intensify from Thursday.

These regions comprise Nairobi, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka-Nithi Counties, which are in the Highlands East of the Rift Valley.
The intensified rain will also be witnessed in Nandi, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Busia, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Uasin-Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, West-Pokot, Kisii, Nyamira, Kericho, Bomet, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori and Narok Counties. These are regions on the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin and the Rift Valley.
Counties in the South-eastern lowlands are also expected to witness the rains. They include Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado and Taita-Taveta Counties as well as the inland parts of Tana-River County.
