The controversy surrounding Kenyan musician Kevin Kioko Bahati‘s identity has taken a new twist after a woman claiming to be his sister maintained that the recently released DNA results do not change her belief about their relationship.
The saga began after a woman surfaced claiming that she was the biological mother of the popular singer.
To verify the claims, a DNA test was conducted between Bahati and the woman. The results, however, came back negative, indicating that she was not the musician’s biological mother.
Following the release of the results, the woman’s daughter, who insists Bahati is her brother, shared a video expressing disappointment and emotional distress over the outcome.
In the clip circulating online, the young woman defended her mother, saying the results did not convince the family. She maintained that her instincts tell her Bahati is indeed her brother.
She questioned why people were so quick to dismiss their claims, arguing that physical resemblance alone should prompt reconsideration.

“Hello guys, ni sister ya Bahati tena, so you already know what happened yesterday, and we were not okay, we were not happy with the results,” the lady said.
“My instincts, zinaniambia Bahati is my brother. Guys, munaniambia ati Bahati is not my brother, how? yani ata nyinyi hamujui kuangalia resemblance? You cannot even look at someone and say,’ this person is really looking like this one’.”
According to her, it would not make sense for her mother to randomly single out Bahati if there was no truth behind the claims.
“Hakuna vile my mum can just wake up one morning na aanze tu kusema Bahati, mbona hakusema mtu mwengine, mbona aliona tu ni Bahati?” she questioned.
No ill motive
The woman also dismissed accusations from some netizens that her family was motivated by the singer’s wealth, insisting they were not after his money but rather wanted recognition and love from someone they believed to be their relative.

“Okay, munasema ni juu ya pesa yake, kwani sisi si tumekuwa tukisurvive. Sisi, hatuko after the money; all we wanted was the love for my brother. I have seen what you have said, and it is okay, it is fine,” she added.
Munatuambia tunataka pesa ya Bahati, yet you do not consider our happiness; you do not see how our mum was suffering yesterday.
She further pointed to her mother’s emotional reaction when the DNA results were revealed, saying the tears were genuine and reflected the pain the family felt.
“You think she was just joking around? ile kulia unadhani ilikuwa ya mchezo? I myself couldn’t hold it, seeing my mum crying that much. My mum was after the child, not his money,” the lady noted.

Bahati’s response
Responding briefly to the ongoing claims, Bahati appeared to signal his exhaustion with the matter after the DNA results were made public.
“DNA ishatoka… Aki Sasa Wacheni Ni Pumzike,” Bahati requested.
