Bungoma Senator and majority chief whip CBS David Wafula Wakoli has welcomed a KSh 3.23 billion national budget allocation for Community Health Promoters (CHPs) across the country, while promising strict legislative oversight to ensure the funds reach grassroots workers without delay.
Of this national fund, Bungoma County is set to receive KSh 107.4 million to support 3,590 local health promoters.
“This support will directly benefit 3,590 CHPs in Bungoma who continue to serve our communities with dedication at the grassroots level,” Senator Wakoli said in a statement. “I will ensure strong oversight so that these funds are disbursed on time and reach every intended beneficiary without delay.Strengthening our CHPs is strengthening the health of our people.”

A Proven Track Record of Oversight
Senator Wakoli has established himself as a frontline champion of institutional accountability in the Senate, frequently demanding answers from state ministries regarding the financial welfare of county workers.
He previously cornered the Ministry of Health by demanding an official statement on the floor of the Senate to address prolonged stipend delays for Bungoma health workers.
Through his legislative profile on the Kenyan Parliament Website, Wakoli has consistently pressured both the national and county governments to reconcile arrears owed to frontline personnel to prevent the disruption of universal healthcare delivery.
Beyond healthcare, his oversight role as a legislator extends to key local sectors, including leading physical inspections of agricultural initiatives to shield local farmers from soaring production costs.
